Muscle Madness Part 4

The ➡️shoulder⬅️ region of the horse has many muscles that work together to facilitate movement of the front limb with accuracy and precision. Here are some of the muscles, their function, and indications of muscular issues:

Deltoid Muscle:
➡️Function: The deltoid muscle contributes to the extension and flexion of the shoulder joint.
➡️Issues: Difficulty in lifting or extending the limb, resistance to movement, and lameness may be signs of deltoid muscle issues.

Brachiocephalicus Muscle:
➡️Function: The brachiocephalicus muscle is involved in the flexion of the neck and shoulder.
➡️Issues: Uneven movement, head carriage issues, or lameness may be indications of brachiocephalicus problems.

Rhomboid Muscle:
➡️Function: The rhomboid muscle helps with the retraction of the limb and stabilizes the scapula.
➡️Issues: Difficulty in retracting the limb, asymmetry in movement, and lameness may suggest rhomboid muscle issues.

Serratus Ventralis Muscle:
➡️Function: The serratus ventralis muscle aids in protraction of the limb and stabilizes the scapula.
➡️Issues: Uneven movement, reluctance to move forward, and asymmetry in the shoulder area may indicate serratus ventralis problems.
