Find Your Way Through Grief—with Hooves, Heart, and Healing.
One Step, One Stride is a gentle, supportive Equine Assisted Learning (EAL) program designed to help individuals navigate the complex and often overwhelming experience of loss. Whether you are grieving the death of a loved one, the loss of a relationship, a significant life change, or a part of your identity, this program offers a safe and empowering space to move through your grief—at your own pace—with the help of horses.
Each of the four sessions is thoughtfully aligned with the stages of grief and incorporates experiential activities with horses to support emotional processing, personal insight, and healing. Through groundwork exercises, obstacle navigation, mindful grooming, and reflective connection, participants will engage with themes such as emotional expression, letting go, reclaiming strength, and finding new meaning.
Who This Program Is For:
●Adults and teens who are grieving a recent or past loss (family member, friend, partner, miscarriage, estrangement, pet loss, loss of identity, etc.)
●Individuals feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or numb in their grief journey
●Those seeking a non-verbal, experiential approach to healing
●Anyone open to exploring personal growth, connection, and healing through horses
What Participants May Gain:
●A renewed sense of strength, clarity, and possibility moving forward
●A deeper understanding of the grief process
●Healthy outlets for emotional expression (including anger, sadness, and fear)
●Tools for grounding, self-regulation, and resilience
●Opportunities to explore and re-establish identity and meaning after loss
●Supportive connection—with both humans and horses
No prior horse experience is required. All sessions are done on the ground (no riding) and prioritize safety, consent, and the wellbeing of both horse and participant. This program is 4 weeks long, and is one session per week with a mid-week check in call (via zoom or google meets).
